The Energy Of Abundance
November 2011
Energy is behind EVERYTHING that moves, breathes and changes. It is the power force that creates all things, grows all things, and moves all things. In some cases, it is even the force which stops things. Without energy, plants would not exist, the earth would not rotate, rain would not fall, the sun would not shine, and the wind would not blow. Energy is the essence of life. It is what causes our breath, the beat of our heart, and the flow of our blood.
Anything we wish to be useful or of value, must be given energy. The lamps in our home are useless if we do not use our energy to plug them into energy sources. Our dreams and goals go unrealized unless we apply energy to their achievement. We rest to conserve our energy for a particularly big event and rest after to replenish our energy. Webster’s Dictionary describes energy as "an inherent power, capacity for vigorous action,” and “strength or power efficiently exerted."
When we think of abundance - the idea of wealth and good things pouring into our life - we rarely think about energy being a factor in receiving them. We tend to feel as though we are "at the mercy" of abundance or prosperity. We think that if we are "lucky" we will be prosperous. We tend to look at abundance as something for a fortunate few. We also have the mind-set of limited resources, meaning that there is only so much abundance to go around. Spiritually speaking...those thoughts are erroneous. In fact, those thoughts block the flow of abundance into our life experiences.
We all know the story which serves as the basis for the celebration for Thanksgiving Day. In truth, the Pilgrims were involved in a very sound Spiritual practice that directly relates to the energy of metaphysical science and Spiritual Laws of Prosperity and Abundance.
If any of us were to suddenly be transported to the place and the time of the Pilgrims, we would undoubtedly view their surroundings and comforts to be meager. Certainly - compared to what most believe is required to be prosperous and comfortable - the environment would be sparse and harsh... and yet they were grateful. They relentlessly toiled and performed back-breaking labor to establish the first planting of the fields. Without equipment, without comfortable beds to rest in after they had toiled, without chiropractors or heating pads to apply to their tired and aching muscles, they persevered. It resulted in a bountiful harvest. This harvest was not what we see as riches or wealth - it was necessity. A long cold winter would soon come upon them in the most rugged of living conditions. The harvest was essential to their survival.
Even though every ounce of their physical energy was devoted to planting and tending the crops for long months...they did not sit back and think, "Well, we deserve this." Or “Of course we have a crop we worked for it." They chose to be grateful. They chose to give thanks. They chose to acknowledge even though they had plowed, planted, weeded and gleaned their fields there was a Powerful Energy behind their efforts. This allowed the seeds grow, the plants bear fruit and the harvest to be one of plenty. In expressing gratitude, they joined the energy from their minds and hearts with the Greater energy of Abundance.
Gratitude is not just a feeling that rolls over and through us at whim. Gratitude is a decision. Gratitude is a sound Spiritual principle that, when used, fills our minds with thoughts of the possibilities and wonders of life. Gratitude has energy! Using it produces more prosperity and abundance in our lives. Think for a moment about giving a gift. If the recipient is filled with delight and expresses sincere gratitude, you naturally want to give to them again. The energy of gratitude attracts more receiving. If you give a gift and the recipient barely notices or gives off the energy that it is only ok or not quite good enough, the likelihood that you will again give to the individual again greatly decreases. Their energy has repelled goodness.
A friend of mine went through the last two years very challenged to find permanent employment. As a result, she was really struggling financially. At times she had to depend on the generosity of others to meet basic needs. I suggested to her one day that she should begin to collect pennies found in unexpected places. She looked at me like I was crazy. But I continued and told her to do it. I suggested she then keep stacking them on a dresser in her room. I told her to delight in this growing stack and to look at it every day and say, "Thank you, I’m getting richer all the time."
Over the next three months she would call and tell me how she seemed to be finding pennies constantly! She told me that, even though there was no job yet, she was getting a real joy from this project. Everywhere she went she was on the lookout for pennies. Being on the watch for them, they seemed to appear everywhere! It got to the point where she fully expected to find a penny on every store floor, in every parking lot, at the beach, etc. One day she called to tell me that, in the most unexpected way, a job had come to her. Her salary was the largest she had ever earned. She said, "I just KNOW it was the pennies. Thank you very much." Of course, it was not really the pennies themselves, but the energy that developed in her and went out from her as she gratefully delighted at finding every penny
It is not applicable to only money or employment. It is about health, friends, family, fun activities, peace and anything else you find pleasing and desirable. If you find yourself thinking that you lack something, I suggest that you look around for where it DOES exist in your life - even if it is only in the quantity of a penny. Place your focus on what IS there and decide daily to call it enough and be GRATEFUL. The energy of your gratitude will fill you with hope. It will set your sights on what is possible. It will naturally lead you to more of what you desire.
There is no shortage of money in this world. There is no shortage of love in this world. There is no shortage of food, people, opportunity or anything good in this world. God did not create a world of lack or shortage. And no action of humankind is truly powerful enough to stop God’s energy to provide. Jump into the flow of God’s provision. You deserve the best and it is God’s greatest pleasure to see you receive it. Radiate the energy of gratitude for all you do have - even in the smallest amount and wait…expectantly for your bountiful and abundant harvest.
Happy Thanksgiving To All.
